Case Study: Cost vs. Quality.
It is a common misconception that the more something costs, the higher the quality. We can perhaps make this argument in property or material things, but not in healthcare.
The average healthcare consumer will often assume that with a big bill comes a better outcome, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
We set out to find some common examples of higher quality for lower cost and a better outcome, and we found many!
In the example shown here we have two like-females who underwent the same procedure; an outpatient laparoscopic hysterectomy. One patient was given the opportunity to engage their care navigation team; a concierge team through her health plan who connected her with their embedded bundled surgical program to find Pearl Health Partners – a network of precision gynecologic surgeons. Meanwhile, our other patient took the most common path with an in-network check on her OB/GYN and hospital system.
Thankfully, our second patient is now fully recovered from a complication sustained during her surgery. But only after spending three days inpatient to stop internal bleeding caused by a nick made during the procedure.
